District Improvement Team
The Wenatchee School District received a District Improvement Grant prior to the 2006-2007 school year. The purpose of the grant was to fund District improvement planning in an effort to meet No Child Left Behind requirements. One of the requirements of the grant was the formation of a District Improvement Team.
The DIT is comprised of administrators and instructional staff, and its focus is the creation and implementation of improvement plans. The Wenatchee School District Improvement Plans evolved from the analysis of district assessment data by a group of 45-50 administrators and teachers. From that data analysis, five priorities emerged: 1) English Language Learners, 2) Low Income/ Intervention, 3) Mathematics, 4) Special Education, and 5) Middle School Schedule.
Sub-committees were formed to develop improvement plans for each of those areas. Both the improvement plans and updates on sub-committee work are available for your perusal. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact any of the facilitators.
In addition to the areas identified through data analysis, the Wenatchee School District is also making Professional Learning Communities a districtwide focus. Professional Learning Communities have proven to be a highly effective collaborative framework that has led to improved student achievement. The action plan for Professional Learning Communities can be found here: Action Plan - Year 1- 2009-2010
